This concert EP documents the inaugural August 2010 performance of the Cape Town Goema Orchestra, showcasing excerpts from Mac McKenzie’s groundbreaking “Goema Symphony No. 1” and introducing a bold, new vision for classical music composition in South Africa.
The making of this orchestral event was documented in the 2011 music film Mama Goema: The Cape Town Beat in Five Movements, which features all of the symphony tracks presented here. Digital album includes text file with link and password for online streaming of the 55-minute documentary.
